Ground Reaction Force Analysis
What are Ground Reaction Forces?
Ground reaction forces (GRF) are the forces that the ground exerts on your body when you push down on the ground. They are a key part of your swing and are based on Newton’s third law of motion
How do GRFs work?
When you push down on the ground, the ground pushes back up on you.
You can use this reaction force to generate more club head speed. If your GRF are miss timed or too low it will cost you power and can affect your ball flight in a negative way.
You can also use GRFs to control your centre of mass and vertical force to move more efficiently in your swing.
90% of golfers GRF happen too late on the swing causing huge loss of potential power and distance.
How can I find out my GRFs?
I can measure the force you exert on the ground in three dimensions: vertical, right/left, and toe/heel using 3D force plates which you stand on when swinging. Once we know how YOU use the ground we can work on simple drills to suit YOUR swing to improve this.
This service is currently very limited due to the scarcity of force plates available for amateur golfers.
